Mountain bike and cycling holidays in Ramsau am Dachstein
Ramsau am Dachstein and Schladming are perfect regions for adventure holidays. Several climbing areas and countless hiking paths at all levels of difficulty provide the basis for a wonderful summer holiday. There is plenty for cyclists and mountain bikers too!
The region has 930 km of well-maintained mountain bike routes. There’s also a fantastic Bikepark Planai, at a height of 1,830 metres. The Bikepark Planai has 12 different downhill trails, at various difficulty levels, which lead down into the valley below. There are suitable trails for beginners and families, too, and if you don’t have downhill gear, or if you just want to try out this sport, you can hire everything you need. All our guests are given a free Schladming-Dachstein summer card that they can use to obtain reduced prices at the Bikepark Planai.
The loveliest mountain bike trails in Ramsau am Dachstein
The Apartment Hotel Waldrand is a perfect base for wonderful biking tours through the Dachstein region. The fantastic Dachstein glacier is always in full view, right in front of your accommodation.
The Ramsauer Almrunde is a particularly fine biking tour. You need about 4 hours for this tour, which is just under 24 km in length. You should also build in enough time to enjoy the fabulous views and stop at various mountain lodges along the way!
There is plenty for cyclists to enjoy on the 265 km-long Enns cycle route. This route starts in Flachauwinkel and goes through the Salzburg, Styria and Upper Austria regions. You have to reckon with a total altitude difference of 900 meters over the hilly stretches.
There are some very new hiring stations for E-bikes in Ramsau am Dachstein and Schladming, as well as E-bike routes complete with charging stations. Another highlight in Ramsau am Dachstein is Bike & Hike. You complete one part of your planned route on a bike, and then you go up to the top of the mountain on foot. There are currently 7 Bike & Hike routes, and more are in the pipeline. Please don’t forget that you have to bring your own locks for the bicycles – you can then secure the bikes in the Bike & Hike stations and pick them up later, after the hiking part.
