On the southern side of the Dachstein, which is the highest mountain in Styria, there are 18 different climbing routes and trails.
At 3,000 metres, the Dachstein is naturally the region’s primary attraction. The Dachstein cable car carries visitors in just a few minutes up to the glacier, the starting point of countless hiking routes and sign-posted glacier trails. A particularly special experience is the Dachstein Sky Walk, which with its 2,700 metre high viewing platform offers a breath-taking view of the whole Tauern range. Inside the glacier is the ice palace, a fantastical world of ice and snow waiting to tempt you in, while thrillseekers can check out the highest suspension bridge in Austria.
